A Sunny Fishing Adventure: Barry Price and Graham Owen’s Week on the Lake
What a week it’s been at Compton’s Lake! After days of drizzle and chilly temperatures barely above 10°C, the sun finally broke through, bringing bright skies and a pleasant warmth in the low 20s. The sudden change made for perfect fishing conditions — and two of the best anglers we could ask for, Barry Price and Graham Owen, were ready to make the most of it.

The Perfect Weather for Fishing
What a week it’s been at Compton’s Lake! After days of drizzle and chilly temperatures barely above 10°C, the sun finally broke through, bringing bright skies and a pleasant warmth in the low 20s. The sudden change made for perfect fishing conditions — and two of the best anglers we could ask for, Barry Price and Graham Owen, were ready to make the most of it.
Barry Takes the Lead
Barry had an incredible week at Compton’s, reeling in 11 carp in total, with his biggest catch tipping the scales at an impressive 39lb 8oz. What a beauty! Between the two of them, they caught 13 carp altogether, with six fish over 30lb and the rest comfortably in the mid-to-high 20s. Safe to say, Barry was on fire this week!
Graham’s Tenacity
Graham, on the other hand, had a tougher time on the lake. Despite plenty of activity in front of his swim, the fish just weren’t biting. He managed two carp, the best weighing just over 31lb — a solid catch, but not quite the run he was hoping for. That’s fishing for you, though! Some days, everything comes together perfectly, and other times, the carp just don’t fancy what’s on offer.
True Anglers at Heart
Even with mixed results, both Barry and Graham showed what great anglers they are — not just in skill, but in attitude. They treated Compton’s Lake and its surroundings with real respect, keeping their swims spotless and handling every fish with care. It’s always a pleasure having anglers like them here — responsible, passionate, and respectful of nature.
A Week to Remember
All in all, it was a fantastic week at Compton’s Lake: sunshine, laughter, and some cracking fish on the bank. Whether it was Barry’s string of big carp or Graham’s determination in tougher conditions, both anglers made the most of every moment. Here’s hoping the good weather sticks around — and that the next session at Compton’s is just as rewarding!
