Jim's Summer Carp Fishing Trip

This summer, we went on our annual family holiday to the west coast of France. While we were away, we once again left our home and lakes in the trusted hands of Jim, not only a friend, but now classed like family. A passionate carp fisherman, Jim spends his time fishing the carp lake while also taking great care of the animals and the house.

Jim's Impressive Carp Catch

Over the span of 12 days, Jim spent an average of 10 hours per day fishing, showcasing his expert skills and dedication to the craft. His efforts were rewarded handsomely as he banked an impressive total of 15 carp, with the largest weighing in at 40 pounds and 9 ounces. Throughout the session, the average weight of the carp caught was over 30 pounds, a testament to the exceptional fishing conditions at Compton's Lake.

Interestingly, some of the carp had gained over 8 pounds in weight since they were last caught in April, highlighting the thriving ecosystem present in the lake. Jim's passion for fishing not only allowed him to enjoy solitude but also to witness the beauty of nature as he honed his skills on the water.

A Fishing Experience to Remember

Joining Jim for the last three days of his fishing adventure was his partner, Zoe, who flew over to share in the excitement. Together, they experienced the thrill of fishing first hand, culminating in Zoe's impressive catch of an 18-pound mirror carp from our stock lake, affectionately dubbed Harry's. It was a fantastic way to conclude their time at the lake, celebrating each small victory and enjoying the tranquillity that only a summer spent fishing can bring.

This memorable summer fishing trip served not just as a means to catch carp but as a way to deepen familial bonds and appreciate the great outdoors. The stunning environment of Compton's Lakes, combined with Jim's fishing prowess and Zoe's spirit of adventure, made for a wonderful experience.
